215 - Eggs In Your Face: Judgemental Behaviour - 2009-03-10

No, I haven't played it, so I don't have an actual opinion.
See what the forums have to say

Effective immediately, the comic will be switching back to a three-day-a-week schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

This is unfortunate, as I rather enjoyed updating all week long. However, I have to blame work for this one. Recently, I've been getting home from work later and later (for reasons which range from working late to traffic), and I get tired, and I go to bed, and suddenly BAM! The comic is late. If I'm lucky, I get home earlier, and hope I don't compound the lateness by missing another deadline, etc.

Ideally, my work... "schedule" will settle down (in quotes because my actual schedule is quite stable, really), and then I'll be able to pump out the extra 66% of dreck comicky-goodness that I'd like to. We'll see how it goes...

Edit: Also, due to my Windows 7 Escapades, probably Thursday's comic will be delayed. Maybe Saturday's, but I'm not sure.

It's that time again - January 25, 2009, 12:49:06 PM

Today, at exactly 1:00 pm, EST, the forum will be going down temporarily for upgrades. With any luck, it should only take about 30 minutes or so.

Edit: Ok, it's complete. As always, if you notice any issues, please reply here!

Happy New Years! - January 01, 2009, 01:51:52 AM

Well, that's the end of 2008. That means that it's time for one of my "reminiscing about the last year, and looking forward to the next year" big, long posts. I wish I had this typed up in advance, but I was otherwise preoccupied today, and thus had no time to do so. Anyway, it feels more fitting to do it all spur-of-the-moment-like.

Anyway.

As usual, this has been a year of change. Both for the site, and for me personally. Both good and bad. Let's start from the beginning, yes?

In February, I increased the comic update schedule from 3 days per week to 5 days per week. I never mentioned why I did that, so I'll get around to that now. At the job I was working for at the time, I was growing increasingly embittered at my employer. I knew that if things continued the way they were going, the breaking point would not be long in coming. As it happened, it wasn't much longer before I ended up resigning in disgust, without receiving so much as a "We really do need you" talk. So, good riddance.

So, then, I was without work. I increased my comic schedule (and, built up a sizable buffer) in the several weeks I was unemployed. Unfortunately, good work is so hard to find these days, and so I had to take a shitty job just to make ends meet. And, it wasn't just a low paying job, but a stressful one too, due to a clueless manager who assumed that everyone who worked for him was as dedicated to his business as he was, and demanded long hours. I think I worked 9-days in a row without a break more than once.

The stress induced by this retarded schedule led to a slight case of depression, and suddenly I had absolutely no will to make comics at all. Once my buffer ran out, that was it. And, actually, I had no desire to even look at the site at all. So, I disappeared for four months, while I tried to sort my personal life out. It also didn't help that my close friend appeared to be dying. And stuff.

"This is the worst new years post ever!"

I know, but I'm getting to the good stuff. Bear with me!

Eventually, I did return, and posted comics for a good month-and-a-half before I vanished again. See, around the time I returned (beginning of September), I moved. I left behind the crap town I was "living" in, left behind the crap job I was working at, and got a new job and new opportunities in an actual city (as opposed to the rural shithole I was in)! My life was more than an endless churn of drudgery, it was... a life! And, comics began to flow once more.

Also, if I recall correctly, we had a bunch of new forummers around that time as well, probably because of my return.

But, then, mid-November, something else happened. I got a new new job. A higher-paying, much more... "upgradable" (I guess I can do that) job... A much more intense and mentally-draining job. I actually got a job in the industry I left before (the one I quit with due-haste), but with a different company. The catch was that I, along with a previous partner-in-crime, was helping this company break into the relevant field*. Although my soul was safe from being sucked away, I couldn't say the same for my mental- and physical processes.

* I'm not saying what the field is because it is irrelevant.

However, I think that all that is settling down now (a bit), and so with the dawn of a new year, I'm happy to announce that I'm back, for good (until the next time I vanish)!

I would like to thank, in alphabetical order, those who supported me personally during these tribulations: Alex, Fallen Angel, interrobang, Lisa (although, I know you don't even know this site exists!), Nightwynd, and the random stranger who paid for my coffee one day just before Christmas.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank my beloved moderators for keeping the fora going when I wasn't around. OWA, WhiteRoxie, this one's for you!

And, finally, I would like to thank everyone who reads the comic, and visits the forum, and buys advertising, and does all that stuff that gives this site a purpose. I can't thank you all by name (especially since I don't know everyone's names!), but I will do the next best thing: The Members List ;)

Here's to a most excellent 2009!
