Name: Kristen Arthas
Sex: Female
Age: 32
Appearance: Pale skin, cropped brown hair, green eyes, slightly muscular build, about 5'11".
Clothes:
Normal - Kristen despises skirts. With a
passion. She will wear a dress on formal occasions, but due to her occupation, she will almost always wear pants of some sort.
Armour - Kristen's armour consists of a dragon-shape helmet (without a face plate), a gold-embossed breast plate, and steel gauntlets. Her legs are both unprotected, and unencumbered.
Occupation: Kristen is a Dragon Knight in service of His Majesty, King Lance XXVII. Her mount, Crystal, is a young red drake. She has been riding Crystal since she started, about 13 or 14 years ago. They have been in combat several times, but often their missions are more covert.
Weapons: Her preferred weapon is the spear, the traditional weapon of the Dragon Knight.
Personality: Kristen is fearless and headstrong, but she knows when she's out-classed. She is independent, and if possible, will prefer to work alone or with Crystal. She used to be known for a fiery temper long ago, but she has taken great measures to keep it under control at all times.
Other: She has a small ability for magic, and she attended school when she was younger. She will use it when necessary, but she is not capable of anything stronger than a fireball, etc.
It had been altogether too long since she felt this way before. Kristen closed her eyes, and emptied her mind, acknowledging only the wind caressing her face. She trusted Crystal with her life, and in fact had done so on more than one occasion. A drop of water splashed across her face, and she knew that it was about to start raining.
Of course, they had expected it. When clouds covered the sky, they could soar above them, using them as cover to hide their movements. They couldn't see the ground from up there, but she trusted Crystal's sense of direction.
A few more drops hit her face, and she figured that although it wasn't raining just yet, they would be drenched soon enough inside the cloud. So, she nudged Crystal's side, and the drake responded by descending. Crystal was no big fan of water, being what she was; Red Drakes had affinity to fire.
They levelled out just underneath the cloud line. Now, they could feel the up drafts from the heat of the day. Kristen knew this meant a thunder storm. Though they would grudgingly fly in the rain, lightening was another story altogether. Of course, the other knights assured her that they were perfectly safe as long as they didn't touch the ground, why would she take the risk? But, for now, they flew.
It was, overall, immaterial, since they were nearly at their destination anyway. Before she could see the village over the horizon, she recalled her mission which brought her all the way out here. They were to gather information about a mysterious cult that was said to be based somewhere in this region. Rumours were flying all over the place about them, but there was enough contradiction in them to warrant more than a casual investigation.
And, then, seemingly out of nowhere, the village appeared before them. Without Kristen even having to say or do anything, Crystal began to slowly spiral down, searching for a good place for them to land. There were plenty of fields outside of the village proper, but most of them appeared to have crops in them. Crystal was good, but she did need a minimum amount of room to land, and destroying a large section of crops was out of the question. And, although there was a forest near by, there did not appear to be any clearings large enough.
Kristen uttered an oath under her breath, as she scanned her field of vision for an open space. They flew a large arc around the village, and soon they found a grassy field large enough for their purposes. Once they were stopped, Kristen dismounted. As she unbuckled her pack of supplies, she gave instructions to Crystal.
"I'm probably going to be staying in the village for a few days. You know the drill, find somewhere to roost for now. Try not to eat too much livestock, I don't want them to have too many suspicions. When I'm done, or if I need trouble, I'll send up a flare; red means trouble." Crystal nodded, already having heard these instructions hundreds of times.
Kristen slung her pack over her right shoulder, already having removed her armour. She did not like advertising what she was unless necessary, and besides, she didn't expect to need it any time soon. Crystal stretched her wings once more, preparing to take to the skies again.
"Good luck." The drake growled in her deep voice. That Crystal could speak in human tonge was a secret known only to a select few... a
very select few. And, Crystal intended to keep it that way. So, she spoke seldom, lest she get too used to it, and slip at the wrong time. Not many dragons could speak directly to humans in Common, often preferring to speak in their own tonge, and only to those humans who would learn it.
As Kristen hiked toward the village, she had the feeling that this mission wouldn't be as simple as she expected, but she wasn't sure why. She pushed that thought out of her mind, and focused on getting to the village before dark.
