Is there something about alignment I don't get? Everyone seems to be putting the same kind of things...

Naw. It's just a reference to Dungeons and Dragons- your alignment is kinda like your morality. For example, a chaotic good person believes in helping people or doing "the right thing" through any means (think revolutionary). A lawful good person believes in helping people through legal or conventional means (think politician or civil leader). That's not a very good description, but yeah... If you google it I'm sure you can find better descriptions of the types. They're not meant to be taken seriously, so yeah

Well, it's like this:

There's two axes of "morality": Good and Evil, and Law and Chaos. Your alignment is where you sit along each axis (including the middle ground Neutral):

Good - You believe in benevolence, and are strongly opposed to Evil and wrong-doing. Although you tend to be reactive instead of proactive, you try to help those around you in everything you do. You try to avoid harming others if at all possible.

vs

Evil - You believe in malevolence, and are strongly opposed to Good. You tend to be more proactive, and anyone who opposes you tends to get crushed in your path. Your goals tend to be power and might, and you're willing to sacrifice others to get them.

And, separately:

Law - You strictly follow a code of conduct or ethics, and tend to make plans to further your endeavours. Although you don't necessarily agree with society's laws, you will petition for new laws to be enacted if you feel there is a need, and struggle to have bad laws repealed. You tend to believe in society over self.

vs

Chaos: You follow no code of conduct, and your actions tend to be more impulsive, and society's laws are no barrier to what you do: You'll do what you have to do, even if it breaks the law. You tend to believe in self over society.

I must stress that Law is not the same as Good, and Evil doesn't mean Chaos. There's plenty of examples of Chaotic Good and Lawful Evil alignments.

(That said, the alignment on the forum is merely for fun, and I won't be prejudiced toward those who are Lawful or Evil)
