My Chayot :: Chapter One
I knew we had a new student in our class, but I had no idea he'd look like this.
He was probably 6 feet tall, with flaming red hair, pale skin and brown eyes which seemed to sparkle yellow in the light. Black pants were belted around his hip bones, swishing around his shoes. A chain led from his back pocket to his front. A tight white shirt kept his slender frame hidden from every other girls prying gaze. At the ends of his fingers, shockingly, were red painted nails.
"Class, this is Chase. He just moved here from...Excuse me, but where did you say were from?"
The whole class leaned forward slightly to hear the first words he would say.
"South Africa"
The front row "oohed" and his smooth voice. He smiled. At me? What? The hell?
I blinked, and propped my book up in front of my face.
Don't look at me. Just act like everyone else, disregard. Disregard. Disregard, go awayI focused my thoughts on him, and pushed the thought of him out of my head, returning to my novel. He introduced himself, as a "normal 16 year old who hopes to fit in at our school, and likes History."
The teacher directed him to a seat, and he
walked to the back of the class and sat next to me.My eyes widened as I turned my head to left. We stared at eachother before he held out his hand and whispered, "I'm Chase."
I shook his hand firmly, and replied, "Aussa."
Chase flashed me a smile, his pointed incisors pressing against his bottom lip. "I know."
I turned back to my book.
Disregard. The bell at 3:30 rang at last, and I was the first to exit. Always through the back door, where noone would see me-
"Aussa. May I have a word?"
Dammit, who was it now.
Goddess of the North, send them away, send them away, call forth a distraction"Aussa." A red tipped hand was placed on my shoulder. I turned my body around and was face to face with Chase. He smiled. "Aussa, your magic won't work on me."
There was a flame in his eye.
By the way, sorry the chapters are so short. I just like leaving off in random places.
