"Welcome home Alex," a female voice called as he left the inn's doorway, "I'm so glad you were not killed in the fight."
"Who are you exactly?" Alex's words hovered in the air for a few seconds, "If you don't have anything important to say, I have to be on my way."
"Wait," her voice called to Alex's back, "You can't go to the temple; you have been banned from there." Stopping in mid step, Alex turned around to look at the woman.
"How can I be banned if this is my first time ever being in this town? As a matter of fact, how do you know my name?"
"This is your home, you were born and raised here and we were together before you went to war." Pausing a moment to remove a glove from her hand, "You gave me this." She said, holding her hand up in front of Alex's face, "This ring you gave me as a promise to me."
"I have never seen it before in my life." Alex turned again to leave, "if you must annoy me then you can follow me." As they headed to the temple a blizzard started to stir, and within a few minutes of it starting, they reach the temple, "We're here."
"Where is here exactly?" She said as a feeling of fear seemed to creep across her.
"The Temple of Shadows," he said. Looking over at the girl he noticed that her fearful look seemed to melt away, "The temple is a dark place and not everyone can enter it, only those in league with the shadows."
The two entered the temple, a shadowy figure standing at the back chapel behind a podium, raised its head. "You have done well Mirial; you shall be rewarded for your efforts. And Alex, I have been waiting for you for a long time. Fifty years to be exact."
