Um, yeah, so heres my answer. Copied from notepad<3

1. Zum said:
    I am innocent.                                                  T
I have never uysed a rock to destroy anything.      T
    Tset did it.                                                       L

2. Uk said:
I did not do the damage.                               L
The Earthman's vehicle is on Grundi space.       T
Yan is not my friend.                                    T

3. Pala said:
    I am innocent.                  T
I never saw Yan before.     T
    Tset is guilty.                   L

4. Tset said:
I did not throw the rock.                                               T
    Yan did it.                                                                   L
Yum did not tell the truth when he said I did it.                 T

5. Yan said:
    I am innocent.                          T
    Uk is guilty.                              T
Pala and I are old friends             L

The most obvious thing is Uk's second statement. It's true, well, why else would the Grundi

throw a rock? :/
For the others...What if Tset was guilty?. It doesn't make much sense. Because He needs to tell

two truths. and two of them were basically saying he didn't do it. So..just..He's  innocent.
So knowing that they have to tell two truths, the two statements that tset said claiming his

innocence must be them, because one cannot be a lie, or he'd be lying, and then their would be

two lies.
So He said Yan did it. Which is a lie.
Moving on to Yan.
He is innocent. Truth.
About the other ones, we need to go to Pala. Tset is not guilty so that must be her lie.

Meaning the other ones are truths.  So she has never seen Yan before.
Which means the truth for yan is thaa Uk is guilty!
I do hope this all makes sense :( And I hope its right :(

EDIT: put the truth/lie marker in the wrong spot..durr.

*jumps into the fray* ooooh i love logic riddles/puzzles- whatever you call them!

uk(2) did it, i say this because 5 never said that 2 was his friend he, in fact, accused him of doing it this makes the statement true, also 2's second statment "The earthmans vehicle is on grundi space" is the truth leaving his first statement "i did not do the damage" which is the lie.

oooh i hope i got it right, oh and nice work working that one out redaxie but there's a flaw in your post you marked uk's first statement as true when you considered him guilty, might wanna fix that

@ Cloud: StandArds

Correct again Axie. You're good at this.

Let's move on from space into the realm of fantasy.

Planning to roam the countryside and prey upon its defenseless people, the ogre reached into his dark closet. there he had stored four six-league boots and eight seven-league boots. How many boots did he have to pull out of the closet to make sure he had a pair that matched?

Again, minimum amount and why.

Silly ogre, putting all his boots in a random pile.

Anyway, the theoretical worst case scenario is that he pulls out a different boot the first n times. However, on the n+1th time, he will have run out of different types of boots, and must, by default, pull out a match.

In this case, since there are two kinds of boots, he must pull out three boots minimum to guarantee a match. However, if he has no sense of fashion, he will likely settle for whichever boots he pulls out first.

(I have no puzzle, so OwA may post another)

More Ogre fighting!

The local king, determined to defend his kingdom from that wicked ogre, sent his two eldest sons to the court swordsmith.
The swordsmith kept a supply of special ogre-fighters (four dagger, three swords, and two axes) locked in a chest. The two princes insisted on having the same kind of weapon.
How many weapons did the swordsmith have to take out of the chest to be sure he could meet the demand of the princes?

Well if we're talking absolute minimums then 2, but we know that if we take probability into account then he would probably need to take out at least four weapons... just in case.

If you need to get a match of 2 weapons, and there is three weapons to choose from, if you put your hand in the chest 3 times and pulled out a weapon, there is a chance that you could get one of each. If that is the case, then the next weapon (fourth go into the chest) would be a match, because you've already pulled out one of each.

Did that make any sense? >_<

Shame on you for posting the same question twice in a row!

And, the answer is six. We need weapons for two princes. So, let's build on Alex's answer.

Let's say that first he pulls one of each. 1D, 1S and 1A. Now, whatever he pulls out next will be a pair. Let's say it's another dagger. Prince #1 has a pair of weapons, so let's take them away.

Now we're at 1 sword and 1 axe (4 pulled). Worst case scenario is that he pulls another dagger (5 pulled, there's two left in there). Now, whatever he pulls next will make another pair (6 pulled).
