4 - Not a Chance
« on: July 09, 2007, 01:00:02 AM »

The best thing to do in this type of situation is to assume that you won.

Also, you may notice that over the last four comics, I used three different means of showing motion ("ghost" shadows, a line and an action statement). I was experimenting at this point, and wasn't sure which method I was going to use. In the end, I decided on the actions.

I remember when I first played the game I was trying to figure out how to shoot, since apparently it's a shooter... then I commenced to die repeatedly by running into spikes... yay.  I suck.  :-D  But he probably did win in some former adventure thus gaining the right to awake in a cave with no memory.

Or he lost and the evil monster decided he was too weak to waste its time killing him.

Just out curiosity, why the action text? I personally liked the shadow, but that could get confusing with more than a couple characters on the same panel.

Keep in mind that many of these comics were made a long time ago, even before the last thread you mentioned it in.

On the other hand, I've always been a fan of the action text.

I think the action text works best. It also depends on the situation. Certain actions require different means of conveying them. For jumping, a simple *hop* suffices.

Having no weapon would get in the way of defeating an evil monster wielding vast power.

It's funny that you mention it. Although you won't know why until the end of July.

I definitely prefer the text action as well.  It works very well, and, umm...there isn't any confusion as to what's actually going on <_<

I couldn't believe there was so much confusion, but in the interest of also not being a lot of work for you... hoorah for action text.

Cave-fu?

Anyhow, I second that hoorah.  Now we can nitpick about other things in the comic!  (Not that I have anything to get nitpicky about right now...just saying that I'm open.)

Ah, the infamous "Third-Panel-of-Silence" gag. His expression in it is good, though.
