International Day's of Observance
« on: January 27, 2008, 07:26:43 PM »
I was just thinking, that...well maybe since we have a lot of members that aren't from   say Canada and the U.S. specifically (since we share most holidays and what not) that maybe Mike you could make the calendar more "International"  I mean, today is Australia Day (in Australia that is, since it's tomorrow already), and well...we do have a few Aussie friends no? And it's not on the ToTC calender.

I was thinking this might be a good idea. I dunno...anyone else agree?

I concur... I mean... I know hardly any holidays that are observed outside of the US, let alone the rest of North America... I think thats a good idea.

Well... i don't know if you guys share the same holidays considering Canada and Australia were both colonized by the British (granted half of Canada is French... but that's not the point) But I know we have a different Thanksgiving than anyone else... I think..

I believe we actually share more holidays with the U.S then Australia. Commonwealth counties or not, for example...Labour Day is the same on both sides of the border.

Oh, and BTW...half of Canada isn't French...<_<

We're not lazy. We're helping keep the population from being overworked.

So true. When I was there it seemed like there was 2 month period where every week had a 4 day weekend due to fake holidays or other excuses.  I wanted my mail dang it!

Too bad I didn't realize the 26th's was Australia day, I'd of sung the anthem for... myself.

What is the anthem? Is it better than Canada's?

You might try watching some international sporting event with Australia competing... they'll favor you with both Advance Australia Fair and Waltzing Matilda(the fake national anthem).
