Kingdom of Loathing
« on: March 22, 2008, 01:44:50 AM »
http://kingdomofloathing.com

I've been playing this game for a week or two, and it is quite interesting. It's a browser-based MMORPG, with a vaguely fantasy-style setting. Vaguely, because everything is a parody or is stupid. Or, sometimes, both. But, in a good way.

Oh, and all the art is stick figures.

If you play, post here! (and, my account: KaleM) If not, you should start!

It's explicitly designed to limit how much you play (you get a certain number of "adventures" per day, and although you can use items to get more, those are limited as well), so you only have to put in, maybe, 30 minutes per day (sometimes longer, if you're like me, and use the official wiki for everything).

I've also set up a clan for TotC, called "Clan of the Cave". If you want to join, just sign up using the above link (which may or may not work until after you sign in).

Ok! Feel free to join the clan, "Clan of the Cave" (if you search for it, you'll have to scroll down a bit, since there are other clans like "Clan of the Cave bear" that, for whatever reason, show up before us in the list)

Also, I saved up enough money to buy an "Inspirational Desk Calendar" for the clan, which gives all members an extra adventure at rollover! I plan to purchase more such items in the future.

Update: I bought a "Girls of Loathing Calendar" for the clan, which adds 3 adventures per day, so we're up to +4 now.

You can have more than 200 at any given time, but! at roll over (midnightish), they are capped at 200.

So, if you don't play for 5 days, you will have 200 adventures saved up. But, anything longer than that, and you're wasting time.

You need to go further into the Bat Hole. You need to adventure in Guano Junction until you get three sonar-in-a-biscuits. Then, use them out of battle, and each one will open up a new area. The one you want is the Boss Bat's Lair.

Be warned, unless you're properly equipped and buffed, he'll probably kick your ass. And, you need to fight a random number of bodyguards first.

Edit: Oh, and to even get into the Guano Junction, you need stench resistance. The easiest way to get that is to equip a pine air freshener from a Pine Bat in The Entryway. Then, you can go into Guano Junction.

Yeah, it took forever to get an air freshener from those stupid things. But, oh well.

Lulz, I remember when I was new to that game.  I haven't played since Brawl came out, I've really gotta get back in there, I'm losing all my stock options.  I had to sell a plastic pumpkin bucket for a little while and I'm sure they've gone up since then. ;_;

Anyway, account name is rabidzora.  Message me if you want, I used to be generous and give stuff to new peeps but I'm currently in a hardcore loop and really don't have much to offer.

Edit:  Seriously, though, if I have any free time tomorrow I'm gonna have to use my 300-ish adventures I've got just sitting there in liquid form and in booze.  Message me if you get a chance, I'll respond.  :P
