Protome's Tale (T4DL Aftermath)
« on: July 18, 2007, 11:04:22 AM »
Yo, this is a story involving my character from ye olde rp "The Fourth Dark Lord." It'll tell of what he did after the fall of Dekentor and the death of Kale but before the events of T4DL2.

"Protome, You Restored The Second Dark Lord To Her Body And Therefore A New Dark Lord Shall Not Be Needed. You Are Free To Live Your Own Life, Goodbye." It had been a year since Protome had heard these words. And he knew that they were nothing but lies. His destiny had not been changed, he still was faced with the threat of becoming a new Dark Lord.  However, Protome did not worry about this much. He had too much on his mind. He had an academy which was up and running, training people in the way of the ninja, he was now a father and his brother was still one of the Greater Undead and he was still a major threat to everyone he came into contact with. In fact Protome had encountered and fought his brother many times since the Fourth Dark Lord's demise and each fight had never truely ended. He had killed his brother several times and each time he rose from the dead once again, something which Protome knew would continue to happen until a necromancer sent him back to the world of the dead.

"Why do you fight me again, brother?" It was more of an echo than an actually voice that came from the robed figure.
"You threaten my family. You threaten my friends. Hell, you threaten everything I worked so hard to protect against Dekentor!" Protome replied as he drew his Katana from it's sheath at his side.
"Hah, don't make me laugh. You helped the Crystal Warriors to reach your own goals, everything you did was just to revive your beloved Marissa" Emmerich laughed. A hollow laugh that seemed to bounce off of Protome's very soul.
"True enough, but I still helped." Protome spoke, as he slowly prepared to hurl himself at his brother's robed body. "That's more than you ever did!"
Protome launched through the air towards his brother and swung his sword forward ahead of him. Out of nowhere Emmerich's sword clashed into it and pushed him back again and down to the ground. He landed on his back and his sword slid away across the grass.
"Oh come on brother, I may have picked the wrong side but in the end I have won." Emmerich began. "I got the power that you still long for, I have the immortality that you dreamt of and I will be the one to finally end your pitiful life!" He drove his blade forward and downwards with intention of piercing Protome's heart, but it was stopped by two kunai which came from Protome's sleeves. He pushed his brothers blade back and rolled across the ground and grasped his own and then he flipped into the air and landed behind his brother, with his sword round Emmerich's neck. Emmerich sighed.
"I expected so much more from you Protome." He said and then he thrust his sword through his own stomach and straight through into Protome's. He then pushed backwards and felt the end of the blade sink deeply into a tree.
"Urgh...Dammit." Protome groaned, and he began to cough up blood. His brother simply fazed through the sword and turned to face him.
"I'm undead Protome, this body isn't even mine!" His brother said and then he pushed the sword further into the tree, just to make sure Protome couldn't escape. "And yet...I feel this shall not be enough to lay you to rest. Oh well, until next time brother!"
Emmerich rose his hand and twirled it in the rough shape of a horse, and a horse did appear in front of him. He mounted it, saluted to Protome and rode away.
When he was out of site Protome grabbed onto the end of the sword and attempted to remove it from the tree. It was useless and he continued to cough up blood and became extremely weak. He could barely move his hands and his vision was fading, but with the last of his strength he drew a symbol in the air and whistled.

Notes: I don't believe that I revealed the names of Protome's Brother or his wife in either T4DL or T4DL2 and so I've created them, from here on in his brother shall be named "Emmerich" and his wife "Marissa"

Enjoy, or don't. Whatever, I want c&c either way.

He had too much on his mind. He had an academy which was up and running, training people in the way of the ninja, he was now a father and his brother was still one of the Greater Undead and he was still a major threat to everyone he came into contact with.

Too many ideas in one sentence. I would break it up to 2 or 3:
"He had too much on his mind with running the academy and being a father now. In addition to training people in the way of the ninja, he had to worry about the serious threat of his brother, one of the greater undead."

In fact Protome had encountered and fought his brother many times since the Fourth Dark Lord's demise and each fight had never truely ended. He had killed his brother several times and each time he rose from the dead once again, something which Protome knew would continue to happen until a necromancer sent him back to the world of the dead.

"Protome had battled his brother many times since the Fourth Dark Lord's demise, but has never been able to truly defeat him. Until he finds a necromancer, his brother will continue to return from the dead to wreak havoc on the living."

More to come...

No, I do not believe you ever mentioned their names, so...no plot holes there my friend.  You're good to go.

Also, I agree with OwA's 'corrections' re grammar and what not, so...I wont say too much there.

HOWEVER (like you didn't see this coming)  I think the one year between the end of the RP and the rise of the Academy may need to be clarified.  I seem to remember in the second RP the creation of the Academy being longer then that.  I'm going to check 4DLII to see if I can find the reference.  Other then that... ^^ nice job Ninja.

Well, I would assume that you didn't even try to proofread what you wrote...  I noticed atleast one sentence where you used the word and 4 times.
He pushed his brothers blade back and rolled across the ground and grasped his own and then he flipped into the air and landed behind his brother, with his sword round Emmerich's neck.

In some regard it really could use a good thorough proofreading, which I'm tempted to do but will not bother...  Considering how this is no longer an RP post I would suggest trying to flesh out some of the events of that year period that you quickly mentioned.  You might consider trying some narrative, atleast on the part of Protome as he's the hero... I think that'd be interesting.  As always, ninja, you have a knack for action.  >.>

SF?  I think our Ninja friend may be going for a third person view, and not so much a first person view, therefor...a narative would not apply.  Just a thought of course.

Anyway Protome...where's the rest <_<

Yeah, I know... but I think it'd be neat if he tried 1st person... because it'd be neat.  :-P

You're talking about thoughts and such, or actually having the story switch back and forth to a 1st person view?

What are you guys talking about?  You can't really have the story go both ways can you?  Its either first person, or third person. Since its a story now, and not an RP I mean.

Why dont we wait for the Ninja to answer us instead of cramming his thread with pointless banter?

I've actually rewritten this part several times, each with Protome being rescued by a different character xD
First I tried a random dwarf, then I tried Tristan and then a few other characters >_>

While Protome hung unconcious from the sword in the tree a shadow moved across the forest behind him. Had he been awake he would have seen a distinctly female shape hidden underneath a black cloak. It pulled back it's hood to reveal long locks of blonde hair, and a woman who looked around 20 years of age. She sighed.
"Silly ninja, you can't go dying on me. However will I get my powers back then?" She said with a flickering smile. Then she pulled the sword from the tree with one hand and caught Protome as he fell with the other. She slung him over her shoulder and looked around cautiously before setting off in the direction she had come from. Then, when she was deeper into the forest, the Second Dark Lord broke into a run.

Protome opened his eyes. He tried to take in his surroundings but in his eyes everything was a blur. A firm hand pushed him down as he tried to rise from the bed he was in.
"You need to rest. You lost a lot of blood." Came a familiar voice from the end of the bed.
"Milena?" Protome croaked, it was painful to even talk.
"Yes. Now rest. I've sent a messenger to your academy, Marissa is on her way." Milena replied. She blocked Protome as he tried to get up again.
"I need to go, Emmerich is-"
"Not your problem at the moment. I believe he is fighting with some elves at the moment."
"Elves!? Why!?" Protome shouted, his strength rapidly returning at the thought of his elven friends being in trouble because he failed to do his job. Tristan, Elessar, Myna...They could protect themselves but Protome did not want to be the cause of a disruption in their lives. Milena shrugged.
"Now rest." She said a final time.

I know it's not very good, more coming soon though :)

Hmm...I assume this is continuing right after Deke/Kale was killed, and immediately after the castle fell from the sky?

No...umm, I assume the elves are the bad guys in this part...ie, the fighting with Tristan, Elessar and Myna?

Many Years Before (I forgot how long it was :S I'll check it in the rp and then fix it in a moment xD)

"M'lady Milena. I bear grave news." The messenger screamed as he thrust his way through Milena's guards into her personal chambers.
"Yes Moxet?" Milena replied calmly, she was folding some clothes into a small wicker case.
"M'lady. The man who claims to be from the future, Dekentor. He plans on assassinating you tonight! He already has control over many of your servants an-" He was cut off by Milena's hand rising into the air.
"I'm aware of all of this. Show me your shoulder." Milena said, still calmly. She closed over her case and handed it to one of the guards. Moxet pulled down his sleeve slightly to reveal his shoulder.
"Your right shoulder." Milena said. Moxet fixed his tunic and revealed his right shoulder, there was a large white hand print covering it.
"So he controls you..." Milena began and then she turned to the door. "Weren't there two guards there?"
She spun back round again and saw a helmet spinning slowly on the floor until it stopped with a thud. Milena turned towards Moxet and fired a blast of magic at him, he spun through the air and crashed against the wall. She heard feet touching the ground behind her so she leapt away and turned to face the man behind her.
"Lady Milena. The Second Dark Lord." Dekentor said with a large smile. "Or at least, that's what you're supposed become."
He laughed maniacly and struck forward with his sword. It pierced Milena's stomach and poked through the other side. He held it there for a few seconds and then flung the body to the ground.
"Is she dead?" Dekentor spoke to Moxet. Moxet crawled across the ground and placed two fingers over Milena's neck.
"Y-yes sire. She is dead."  Moxet spoke and he rose to his feet.
"Good, dispose of the body. I have some other matters to attend to..." And Dekentor left, Moxet couldn't place his finger on how he left. One moment he was there and then the next moment...It hurt his head to think about it and had hurt his eyes to watch.

And hour passed. Moxet cleared up most of the blood on the floor and proped Milena's body up against the same wall he had been thrown into.
"He's definately gone milady." He said, sitting on the end of the bed. Milena's eyelids rose and her eyes themselves revolved until they were in proper position. Then she pushed herself up off the ground and attempted to walk, she stumbled and began to fall but Moxet was quick and managed to reach her and prop her up against the bed.
"Milady, you've lost a lot of blood. You should rest..." He requested this despite knowing it to be useless, Milena would not listen.
"Hah, if you th-think this-s is ba-ad you sh-ould have see-seen me when I was a child. I fe-fe-fe-fe..." She stopped for a couple of seconds and then moved to sit on the bed itself.
"I fell from a cliff. That was a fun day. Broke every bone in my body." She smiled weakly.
"Miss are you a God!?"
"No, Moxet. I'm just an immortal. I can't be killed as far as I know...I'm sure it's possible but..." She moved slightly and there were several cracking noises. "... I've yet to find out how I can die. A fact that I'm happy about."
Moxet rose and walked towards the door.
"Good night m'lady. Your case is lying below the window if you still plan on leaving."
"I must Moxet. Dekentor called me a Dark Lord. I must run. I don't want to become one of them..."

Milena's blonde hair glistened in the moonlight as she looked upon all that was hers. The entire main continent crumbled beneath her firm grasp. She watched as her armies marched forward to take her final position, the port town of Kiris. There were humans, elves, dwarves and many other species in her great army, she also prided herself in having recruited several Free Magic creatures. Creatures that emitted empty magic that was easy to be used, they traveled amongst the battalions of Mages and helped power their magic.
Then, the army stopped. Something was blocking them. Milena frowned and growled under her breath, flicking the faceplate of her helmet so that it covered her eyes and nose. She left to fight against the four warriors who had impeded her entire might army. Now was the time to end this...

"Give up Dark Lord!" The young, over confident male voice shouted. He had yet to see the true horrors of the world.
"Never, I am immortal you fools. Everything you do to me is just tiring yourself out!" Milena hissed and she began to laugh her high pitched laugh, which despite sounding silly still managed to strike fear into her opponents.
"You leave us no choice!" This time the voice was female, Milena had not noticed she was here. She was standing in the shadows of the trees and had a small stone container covered in glowing magical symbols.
"Hah, Rose, my own daughter turning against me?" Milena laughed louder this time but she knew her fear penetrated it this time. She saw the four warriors holding their weapons harder. "But you know my ability. You can't kill me."
"That is so mother. But we can DO THIS!" Rose's hands pulled the stone container opened and her hands began to draw runes in the air and fire them towards Milena. Milena did not know what the symbols hurling towards her could do but she knew not to underestimate her own daughter and so attempted to flee. One of the four warriors fired an arrow which struck her leg as she fled, sinking deeply between two plates of the armour. Then she felt her soul being sucked from her body. Forced into the container. And she screamed. A banshee liked scream that caused each of the four warriors to fall to the ground and clutch their ears. Then the box shut. Milena's body fell lifelessly to the ground.

Rose hid the box deep within a maze (Screw you, I can't spell Labirynth xD) ontop of a mountain. She cast her strongest runes on the area but knew that there was only one way to keep the box from ever being opened. A sacrifice. The blade sliced cleanly into her own wrists and runes flowed in the blood, spreading and consuming the maze. Protecting it from almost anything. Hell, you could probably drop a castle on it and it'd be okay...

Milena rose from her troubled slumber and tried to fully wake up. She leapt from her bed and put on her Dark Lord armour before looking from the window. The moonlight flickered from the plateu (Sp?) below. She saw a glimmer of red in the sky which was growing larger and larger. Marissa had arrived.

It has been a while, hasn't it?
I've had this written for a while, but never posted it xD

Marissa's chosen form of transport was a "Kite." A flying device made of folded paper and lots of magic. It was a form of transport not commonly chosen among ladies, due to it's rather...undignified landing mechanisms. Ie: It had none. Crashing was the most normal landing choice among it's riders, some skilled flyers could pull it up before it hit the ground, and land it fairly flat on the ground, but due to its shape (Think...a paper aeroplane) it had a tendency to fall to one side.
Milena knew all of this, which is why she was glued to her window, watching Marissa's landing to see how she handled these design flaws. And she was amazed by Marissa's solution.
She pulled the Kite into a dive towards the plateau outside of Milena's mountain residence and seconds before it came into contact with the ground she shouted a word that Milena couldn't make out. Whatever the word was, it caused the Kite to break up into millions of tiny pieces, disintegrating into the air. Marissa landed softly on her feet. As did the man who was with her.
Milena hadn't noticed the man until just then. But she knew who he was. Only one man was that sickeningly skinny, wore a robe made from dark magic and carried a scythe with him. Death was here.

"You brought DEATH into my home!?" Milena screamed at Marissa in the kitchen.
"Well. Technically you let him in." Marissa said in her almost angelic voice. A voice that could calm down even the most angry of beings. Except Milena.
"That is besides the point! You brought Death. Into my home. To see Protome. Who has just been stabbed" She was trembling with anger.
"Oh calm yourself. He's not here on business, you know how well those two get along." And then Marissa smiled. Which caused Milena to wince. It was unnatural for someone to look so pure and fresh. Especially a necromancer. Marissa giggled slightly and then picked up two of the mugs of tea that Milena had been pouring. "And he prefers to be called 'Mort' by the way. Shall we return?"
The two women entered the bedroom where Protome was laying. Mugs of tea were passed around and everyone sat in silence for a few minutes. Protome propped himself against the headboard of his bed so he could actually see his visitors.
"My, My. What have you done to yourself this time?" Marissa smiled at him. Protome smiled back. But he knew what was coming next. Marissa was not all angelic smiles and sweetness. She frowned at him.
"I explicitly TOLD you not to go after your brother again. You're going to get yourself killed! He's a greater undead creature, you can't deal with that yet! We need to focus, plan, and find his real body! When we find it, we can banish him. Until then you need to stop doing this! You have a son now, you can't just run off willy-nilly trying to kill creatures out of your league." Marissa stopped for a few seconds to let this all sink in. She knew that fear had been stricken into those who were listening to her rant mainly because she managed to sound so calm and yet so angry at the same time.
"She Is Correct, Protome." A hollow voice chimed from beneath a dark hood. "You Will Die Prematurely If You Continue On This Path Of Revenge."
Protome sighed slightly.
"This seems more and more like some kind of intervention..." He mumbled into his mug, before taking another gulp of tea.
