Anyone here use Game Maker?
« on: August 02, 2009, 08:42:05 PM »
Maybe this is the wrong spot for this, I apologize if it is.

So, I've been using this game creation software for a while, it's called Game Maker, for more information (and a download of it) click here*.

Basically, it's the most powerful tool that's still reasonably easy to use to program games. I'm working on a couple projects right now, and I plan to have them finished... eventually.

Ya don't say >_>

Anyway, I used to use Game Maker (and have been registered since version 5), but I don't use it these days. Not to say it's bad, but it's just not for me.

That said, I do have a bunch of half-baked projects of my own I may finish some day.

Cool!

I probably didn't need to post that YYG isn't my website, but I figured it would be good to nip any problems in the bud before they got possessed by the spirit of an evil door and grew to wildly large proportions. ;)

I use it. I use 6 and 5, been staying away from 7 because of SoftWrap.

Also, recently I found out about Enigma, which is just like GM [it's main file format is .GM6 even], but it's free [but currently broken in strange ways, notably collision and currently only supporting the code DnD block].

I'm working on a project in GM6, bilateral, but my current machine is a Vista box, so...

Same.

Edit: Also, if anyone ever DOES say it's bad, they've clearly never played An Untitled Story, among other masterpieces.

Got GM8 [pro] pretty recently [I gave in], 'tis AWESOME.

Seriously, you never notice how much you need 32bit RGBA sprites and stuff until you use GM8. Also, speed. Much, much faster than 6, and much, MUCH, MUCH faster than 5.3.

Granted, I really don't feel like working on bilateral, so I started a new game, Bisus.
